The post started raising money and designed their own patches and got uniforms. The explorers also started helping at community events, such as Safety Town.

In 1987, the very first ride along program was established for memebers 15 years of age could ride to emergencey calls. The Post also formed a puppet called Danny the Dragon to help teach kids about fire safety in safety town. But sadley in 1991 the Tolland Public Safety Explorer Post 425 ended.

In 1999, the second Post was established called Tolland Public Safety Explorer Post 142 and is still an active Post with just the Police side.

In 2009, the fire and Ems sides branched off from Post 142 and Tolland Fire Explorer Post #40 was formed.
